My name is Mark Lyford, and like many of you reading this, I’ve had a lifelong fascination with racing pigeons. From the moment I first saw birds return home from a race as a boy, I was hooked. The bond, the challenge, the spirit of the sport – it’s something that never left me.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in many walks of life, but pigeon racing has always been a personal anchor. It’s more than a hobby – it’s a way of life, one that teaches discipline, respect, patience, and joy. But in recent years, I began to notice something worrying: fewer people getting involved, fewer young faces, and barriers that kept new enthusiasts from ever experiencing the thrill I grew up with.
Why I Started Pioneer Syndicates
That’s why I created Pioneer Syndicates – to break down those barriers and bring the excitement of One Loft Racing to everyone.
I wanted to create a platform where you didn’t need your own loft, pigeons, or even much experience – just the desire to get involved. Whether you’re a lifelong fancier or someone who’s just curious about the sport, Pioneer Syndicates gives you a real chance to take part in some of the world’s top pigeon races.

With Pioneer Syndicates, you can buy a share in a professionally managed racing team. For just £10 per spot, you become part of a syndicate entered into an international One Loft Race. We handle everything – from sourcing the birds to managing training and race entries. You get all the thrill, and your share of any prize money or auction sales.
